VIDEO: On-farm employee education

Dr. Andres Contreras Bravo of Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine discussed his research on educating dairy employees about reducing mastitis and thereby reducing antibiotic use in dairy cows. His work is part of the Quality Milk Alliance initiative funded by USDA. He presented his findings, including the creation of a Quality Milk Corner, at the 25th anniversary celebration of the Samora Institute. His works focuses on strategies such as the Quality Milk Corner to educate both English- and Spanish-speaking employees on how they can contribute to reducing mastitis and improving milk quality, while minimizing the use of antmicrobials in their dairy herds.
